Welcome to Gutter Cleaning Honiton.
My name is Dave and I began cleaning gutters during 2019. I have five children and we have a happy family life.
For most of my working career I have worked in Accountancy and Tax! I trained with a large Chartered firm of accountants in Devon, qualifying as an Accounting Technician after 3 years of exams, then I went on to study for another 3 years to become a Chartered Certified Accountant.
So why am I now cleaning gutters?
In 2008 I decided I wanted to run my own business, so I set up an accountancy practice in Ottery St Mary. I had some really great clients, lovely staff and lots of happy memories.
However, as my business grew so did my family, until life was pretty demanding! My days were very busy running the accountancy business. This brought with it plenty of stress and pressure.
I came home and my family life was also very busy and full of excitement!
I would think about all of the many different businesses my clients were running, which ones were complex, which were simple, which created a lot of worry and which appeared less stressful.
During 2018 I was approached by another firm of accountants interested in buying my business.
I decided that this was a good move for my health and my family. So I sold the business and have taken a step back from accountancy. my main focus now is on building a great business offering gutter cleaning, pressure washing, soft washing, uPVC cleaning, etc.
I must say there are parts of accountancy I miss. However, I feel happy that overall my life is much simpler now and I prefer working outside (even in winter) when I compare it to my previous work, day after day hunched over a computer, drowning in paper work, meetings and constant scary deadlines!!
I run my new venture as I did my accountancy practice; I really care about looking after my clients/ customers. I know from advising many business owners over the years that a business will thrive if you offer a great service, you are trustworthy and reliable and you do what you say you will do.
